As part of the Open Government Partnership, we successfully advocated for the Ministry of Health to incorporate a field that allows people to self-identify as Indigenous or Afro-descendent on the forms used to report injuries or emergencies. This allows the Ministry to better collect disaggregated information on sexual and domestic violence, as well as the follow-up care provided. This has helped raise awareness of these populations, which have traditionally been excluded, and has generated relevant information so that no woman is left behind in important decision-making processes.
